Background
China Post is scheduled to issue a set of 1 commemorative stamp themed "The 70th Anniversary of the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet" on August 19, 2021. The face value of the full set of stamps is 1.20 yuan, with a planned circulation of 7 million sets.On May 23, 1951, the signing of the Agreement on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet between the Central People's Government and the local government of Tibet (commonly known as the "17-Article Agreement") proclaimed the peaceful liberation of Tibet. Since then, the Tibetan people have been permanently free from imperialist aggression and bondage. Together with people of all ethnic groups across the country, they have embarked on a bright path of unity, progress and development within the big family of the motherland. Entering the new era, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core and with the strong support of the whole nation, Tibet has achieved a comprehensive victory in poverty alleviation. Now, it boasts greater social stability, more prosperous economy and culture, a better ecological environment and happier lives for its people, presenting a brand-new socialist Tibet to the world.
In the foreground of the stamp, local people are depicted singing and dancing to celebrate joyfully. Beside them, the new houses of Tibetan residents are neat and beautiful, and the cattle and sheep are robust and fat, presenting a thriving scene. In the background, the Fuxing Plateau EMU train is shown against the backdrop of towering snow-capped mountains and other elements, depicting a magnificent picture of Tibet's development in the new era.
This set of stamps was designed by Rong Tie and Shen Jiahong, and printed by Beijing Stamp Factory Co., Ltd. using the photogravure technique.
