March 5, 1998 is the 100th birthday of Zhou Enlai, the excellent son of the Chinese people.
Zhou Enlai's ancestral home was in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. He was born in huai'an, Jiangsu Province. As a young man, he joined in the revolution and carried with unflinching courage the struggle for the Chinese nation's independence and liberation. He was one of the Communist Party of China, the People's Liberation Army of China and the People's Republic of China. Since the New China was founded, Zhou has been the premier for 26 years, effectively exploring the way to build the New China into a prosperous and strong one and making his significant contributions in this respect. He was not only the participant of many major decision makings, but also the creative executor of the policies. The thoughts concerning politics, military, diplomacy, united front and culture put forward by him are the important integral parts of Mao Zedong Thought, which are the priceless heritage handed down to the Chinese people.
Zhou Enlai is the universally acknowledged great Marxist, outstanding proletarian statesman, militarist and diplomat in the 20th century, and he is worthy of such titles.
