On May 8, 2016, China Post issued a set of commemorative stamps titled Modern Chinese Scientists (Series VII). The full set consists of 4 stamps, each with a face value of 1.20 yuan.

The stamps feature four scientists: geologist Ding Wenjiang, agronomist Jin Shanbao, physicist Ye Qisun, and meteorologist Ye Duzheng. Designed by combining historical photos with sketch techniques, the background elements reflect their respective fields of research.

Geologist Ding Wenjiang (1887–1936): The geological cross-section in the stamp background highlights his achievement of founding the Geological Survey of China. As a founder of China’s geological cause, he led the compilation of important works such as Geology of China.

Agronomist Jin Shanbao (1895–1997): The wheat ear pattern in the background echoes his monograph Chinese Wheat Varieties and Their Pedigrees. A pioneer in Chinese wheat scientific research, he successfully bred excellent varieties including "Nanda 2419".
Physicist Ye Qisun (1898–1977): The founder of the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University. The particle track diagram in the stamp background symbolizes the scientists he mentored who contributed to China’s "Two Bombs, One Satellite" program, such as Deng Jiaxian and Qian Sanqiang.

Meteorologist Ye Duzheng (1916–2013): The first Chinese recipient of the International Meteorological Organization Prize. The atmospheric circulation map in the stamp background reflects his contribution to pioneering meteorological research on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau [2] [6]. The International Astronomical Union named asteroid No. 27895 after him.
This stamp set is printed using the offset and intaglio combination process by Henan Post and Telecommunications Printing House, and incorporates triple anti-counterfeiting technologies.

The Modern Chinese Scientists stamp series was launched in 1988, and by 2016, a total of seven series had been issued. Following the purpose of the series, the seventh set showcases the outstanding contributions of Chinese scientific and technological workers in the form of "national name cards" and promotes the spirit of science.
