China Post issued a commemorative stamp for the 120th Anniversary of Sichuan University on September 28, 2016.

Sichuan University traces its origins to the Sichuan Sino-Western School founded in 1896. It was formed through two mergers (in 1994 and 2000) of three key national universities: the former Sichuan University, the former Chengdu University of Science and Technology, and the former West China University of Medical Sciences. Over its long history, Sichuan University has cultivated a profound cultural heritage, established a solid academic foundation, and forged a university spirit embodied by its motto: "The sea is vast because it admits all rivers," and its ethos of "rigor, diligence, truth-seeking, and innovation."

Currently, Sichuan University is actively responding to the national call for "mass entrepreneurship and innovation," closely following the national strategy for "Double First-Class" construction, and comprehensively deepening reforms as it strives toward the goal of becoming a world-class university.

The stamp design incorporates elements of the university's emblem, motto, and architectural landscapes, skillfully combined in a pen-and-ink light wash style. This artistic approach captures the unique character and profound heritage of Sichuan University.
