China Post issued a commemorative stamp for "Poverty Alleviation Day" on October 17, 2016.

In 2014, the State Council of China officially designated October 17 as National Poverty Alleviation Day. The establishment of this day aims to carry forward the traditional Chinese virtue of helping the needy, cultivate and practice the core socialist values, and mobilize all sectors of society to jointly combat poverty. The goal is to help impoverished areas and populations build a moderately prosperous society in all respects alongside the rest of the nation, and ultimately achieve common prosperity. October 17, 2016, marked the third Poverty Alleviation Day in China. Governments at all levels, guided by the overall strategy for poverty alleviation, adhered to the basic approach of targeted poverty alleviation and precision, striving to effectively match social assistance resources with the specific needs of the impoverished. They implemented tailored policies for different villages, households, and individuals, aiming to make breakthroughs in the battle against poverty.

The stamp design features a red background symbolizing the national flag, with symbols representing clothing, food, housing, healthcare, and education arranged into a heart shape—symbolizing the "Two Worries" (no worries about food and clothing) and the "Three Guarantees" (guaranteed compulsory education, basic medical care, and housing). The date "10.17" is placed at the center of the heart. The overall design is rich in meaning, expressing the high importance and active participation of all sectors of society in poverty alleviation efforts.
