China Post scheduled the issuance of a set of commemorative stamps themed "the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity" on October 11, 2021. The set consists of 1 stamp with a face value of 1.20 yuan, and the planned circulation volume of the stamp is 7 million sets.

The Convention on Biological Diversity was adopted at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992. It has grown into one of the most influential international environmental conventions in the process of the United Nations' environmental and development efforts, playing a crucial role in advancing the global protection, sustainable utilization of biodiversity and the sharing of benefits derived therefrom. The first phase of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province from October 11 to 15, 2021. The hosting of this conference is of great significance for promoting Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, demonstrating China's achievements in ecological civilization construction, and engaging deeply in global ecological and environmental governance.

This stamp set was designed by Xia Jingqiu. With the conference's logo and auxiliary graphics as the main elements, it adopted drop-shaped perforations for the first time in design. This design highlights the concept that water is the source of all life and echoes the design of the conference logo, presenting an ingenious composition and a prominent theme.

The stamp was printed by Beijing Stamp Factory Co., Ltd. using the combined process of offset printing and engraving, which perfectly integrates various exquisite techniques with a concise and vivid design. Firstly, two-color offset and engraving printing on a single plate is adopted, where the vertical engraved lines enhance the three-dimensional effect of the conference logo. Secondly, sparkly golden turquoise green engraved ink is used for the first time, showing glittering golden specks under sunlight. Thirdly, the three-color fluorescence (red, blue and white) incorporates more thematic content into the stamp design. Fourthly, the drop-shaped perforations further emphasize the core theme of the stamp.
