Background info
Adjacent to Zhuhai City of Guangdong Province, Macao is located at the southern point of the Zhujiang Delta, west of the mouth of Pearl River, and only 40 sea miles from Hong Kong. According to the joint declaration between China and Portugal, China will resume exercise of sovereignty over Macao on 20th December 1999 and establish Macao Special Administrative Region.
On December 8 1995, the inauguration of Macao international Airport, which is located on the east of Dan Zai Island, ended the record of no civil airport in the history of Macao. The Friendship Bridge, which has another name of Xin Ao Bridge, is one of the longest steel reinforced concrete sea-spanning bridges in the world. It was opened to traffic in 1994. Nan Wan block buildings, as a symbol of this international modern city, was a vast expanse of water 60 years ago. The building of Band of China, Macao Branch, the highest building in Macao up to now, is standing erectly among these buildings. Macao Stadium, which can hold over 15,000 people, is a symbol for Macao to develop athletic contest.
