China Post scheduled the issuance of a set of 2 commemorative stamps themed "The 60th Anniversary of Mao Zedong's Inscription 'Learn from Comrade Lei Feng'" on March 5, 2023. The designs of the stamps are respectively titled: Comrade Mao Zedong's Inscription, and the Sculpture Lei Feng. The total face value of the whole set of stamps is 2.40 yuan, and the planned circulation of the stamp set is 7.5 million sets.

Lei Feng, a model of serving the people wholeheartedly and a communist fighter, was born in Hunan Province on December 18, 1940. He studied diligently, was strict with himself and devoted to public duties. In addition to fulfilling his own work duties, he often helped others voluntarily and actively lived up to his promise of "devoting his limited life to the infinite service for the people". On August 15, 1962, Lei Feng died in the line of duty. On March 5, 1963, People's Daily published the handwritten inscription by Comrade Mao Zedong, calling on the people across the country to "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng". Since then, activities to learn from Lei Feng have been widely carried out nationwide. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the inscriptions on learning from Comrade Lei Feng by Mao Zedong and other revolutionary elders of the older generation. Recently, General Secretary Xi Jinping made important instructions on further carrying out activities to learn from Lei Feng, emphasizing the need to deeply grasp the contemporary connotation of Lei Feng's spirit and let Lei Feng's spirit shine more brilliantly in the new era.

The first stamp, "Comrade Mao Zedong's Inscription", presents Mao Zedong's inscription "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng", symbolizing that Lei Feng's spirit has been passed down from generation to generation and will never fade. The second stamp, "the Sculpture Lei Feng", features the bronze sculpture Lei Feng created by Wu Weishan. The sculpture captures a moment when Lei Feng is walking in the spring breeze with a smile on his face, symbolizing that Lei Feng's spirit has entered the new era, full of vigor and vitality.

This set of stamps was designed by Wu Weishan and Shi Yuan. Beijing Stamp Printing Co., Ltd. printed the stamps using the combined offset and intaglio technique (for the first design) and the photogravure technique (for the second design).
