China Post scheduled the issuance of a set of 1 commemorative stamp themed "120th Anniversary of Southeast University" on June 6, 2022, which is the university's anniversary date. The total face value of the complete stamp set is 1.20 yuan, and the planned circulation quantity of the stamps is 7.98 million sets.

Southeast University is located in Nanjing, an ancient capital of six dynasties, and is a renowned institution of higher education both at home and abroad. As a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and co-constructed with Jiangsu Province, it is one of the key universities supported by the national "985 Project" and "211 Project". In 2017, it was included in the list of Class A universities for building world-class universities. The university originated from Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, boasting a long history and profound heritage. It was officially named National Southeast University in 1920, and June 6 was designated as its anniversary date in 1921. In 1988, the State Education Commission officially approved Nanjing Institute of Technology to resume and rename itself Southeast University. Over the 120-year history of running the university, Southeast University has always cared about the country and the nation, striving for self-improvement and pursuing excellence for scientific progress and national rejuvenation. It has gradually formed the fine school spirit of "rigor, realism, unity and striving", the school-running philosophy of "gaining fame through science and serving the country with talents", and forged the school motto spirit of "Strive for Perfection". The university has cultivated nearly 370,000 outstanding talents of various types for the country and society, and made important contributions to the economic and social development of the country and regions. Examples include Chien-Shiung Wu, a world-famous experimental nuclear physicist; Huang Weilü, a pioneer of China's "Two Bombs and One Satellite" project, a famous Chinese expert in rocket and missile control technology and one of the founders of China's aerospace industry; and Ren Xinmin, also a pioneer of the "Two Bombs and One Satellite" project and one of the founders of China's missile and aerospace industry.

This set of stamps was designed by Yu Qiuyan. The stamp design takes the hand-drawn architectural drawing of the early auditorium of Southeast University as the core element. Below it, unfolded books, the university's founding year and other elements are used for foil, implying "a 120-year-old famous university dedicated to education". The background is the standard drawing of Southeast University's logo, which is coordinated with elements such as the school emblem, the "120th Anniversary" logo and the school motto. The overall picture has a rigorous structure and a calm and profound color tone, highlighting the long history and profound heritage of this 120-year-old famous university.

This set of stamps adopts the combination of offset printing and engraving process, engraved by Xu Zhe and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing Co., Ltd. Laser direct engraving lines make the main building more three-dimensional and vivid; special UV gold ink makes the picture shine with metallic luster; and yellow, red and blue three-color fluorescent ink makes Southeast University's school emblem and anniversary logo stand out and shine brightly under an ultraviolet lamp.
