The 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition (referred to as "Qingdao Expo 2014") will be held from April 25 to October 25, 2014, at the Baiguoshan Forest Park in Licang District, Qingdao, lasting 184 days. The theme is "From the Earth, for the Earth," aiming to promote the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature, as well as the development concept of green ecology and low-carbon living. The emblem is "Colorful Floral Art," and the mascot is "Sea Elf – Qingqing," fully reflecting the profound integration of Qilu culture, maritime culture, folk culture, and garden art, while highlighting the unique urban characteristics of Qingdao, where mountains, sea, and city are seamlessly integrated.

The commemorative stamp set for the 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition was issued by China Post to coincide with the event. The set consists of two stamps, with the designs titled "Theme Pavilion" and "Botanical Garden," each with a face value of 1.20 yuan, and a total face value of 2.40 yuan. The stamps were issued on April 25, 2014. The design places the Theme Pavilion and the Botanical Garden at the center of each stamp, with a gradient splash-ink background that integrates the architecture into the scene. The designs also incorporate the expo's emblem, "Colorful Floral Art," and its mascot, "Sea Elf – Qingqing."

Using a freehand brushwork style, the design combines the art of gardening with human life, vividly interpreting the theme of the 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition—"From the Earth, for the Earth"—as well as the regional characteristics of the expo.
