Background

Peng Zhen (1902-1997), born in Quwo County of Shanxi Province, was a great proletarian revolutionary, statesman, outstanding figure in state affairs, firm Marxist, one of the founders of China's socialist legal system, and preeminent leader of the Party and state. In his 70-plus years' revolutionary career, he made persevering efforts for the liberation of the Chinese people, founding of New China, socialist revolution and construction, and realization of communism, performing indelible historical feats.
