Background

Dali of Yunnan Province is one of China's famous cities with historical and cultural value. It stands at the foot of the Cangshan Mountain, by the Erhai Lake, and is populated with over 20 minority groups, with the Bai group composing the majority. In history, Dali was the capital of Nanzhao Kingdom during the Tang Dynasty and Dali Kingdom during the Song Dynasty. The beautiful landscape is dotted with many scenic spots and historical sites as well as characteristic Bai residential buildings. In Dali, where the weather is spring year-round, mountains and waters merge into one color, and the air is saturated with birds'chirping and flowers'fragrance. The high, steep Cangshan Mountain and the radiant, beautiful Erhai Lake combine into and enchanting scene reputed to be very romantic. The well-known "Third Month Fair"attracts tourists from every direction with typical, diverse folklore of minority groups.
