Stretching majestically for 800 li, the Taihang Mountains span four provincial-level administrative regions: Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, and Henan. With their lofty peaks, perilous cliffs, and numerous precipices, they demarcate the second and third topographic steps of China and form a clear divide between the North China Plain and the Loess Plateau. The landforms of the Taihang Mountains are characterized by grandeur, peculiarity, steepness, and ruggedness, with distinct layers. Natural landscapes such as forests, ridges, canyons, caves, springs, waterfalls, pools, and rivers create a myriad of peculiar and breathtakingly beautiful scenery. The fertile land at the foot of the Taihang Mountains and the waters of the Yellow River have nurtured the outstanding children of the Chinese nation, and brilliant Huaxia culture originated here. The Taihang Mountains hold a very high position in people's hearts and possess the significance of a spiritual totem, symbolizing the national integrity of the Chinese nation and are praised as the "Ridge of the World."
This stamp set is executed in ink wash painting. Through layered ink tones and varied brushstrokes, along with adept application of wash and shading, it showcases the representative scenery of the majestic Taihang Mountains. The unique topographic features, profound historical积淀, and abundant humanistic spirit of the Taihang Mountains are all concentrated within the limited space of the stamps. Using the artistic expression of Chinese landscape painting to depict China's famous mountains, the stamps achieve a perfect combination of art and content, conveying the unique charm of Chinese culture to the world.
The stamp set was designed by Li Defu and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing Co., Ltd. using the photogravure process.
