Background
On August 15, 2013, China Post officially issued the special stamp for the "China-ASEAN Expo" with catalog number 2013-18. The set consists of one stamp, released to commemorate the friendship and cooperation between China and the 11 ASEAN countries and to convey a shared vision of prosperity.

The stamp was jointly designed by three artists—Zheng Junli, Qi Wanli, and Chen Zaigan—with relevant materials and support provided by the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.

The main image of the stamp is a traditional Chinese painting titled "Blossoms of Prosperity," created collectively by the three artists. It features the national flowers or representative blooms of China and the 10 ASEAN countries, depicting a total of 11 distinctive flowers. The 11 national blooms are harmoniously united in one frame, vividly conveying the Expo's core themes of "Friendship, Cooperation, and Prosperous Development."

In the upper right corner of the design is the Expo emblem, composed of 11 colorful ribbons. The background subtly incorporates the outline of the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center—the permanent venue of the Expo in Nanning, Guangxi—seamlessly blending the regional landmark with the floral theme. The overall design employs a combination of traditional Chinese gongbi (meticulous brushwork) and freehand ink painting techniques. The colors are rich and harmonious, presenting the flowers in full, vibrant bloom against a soft, elegant backdrop, achieving a balance between artistic expression and cultural depth.

The China-ASEAN Expo is a major economic and trade exchange event co-hosted by the governments of China and the 10 ASEAN countries, along with the ASEAN Secretariat. The first Expo was held in Nanning, Guangxi, in 2004 and has been permanently hosted there since. Its purpose is to promote the development of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and to share opportunities for cooperation and development.

2013 marked the tenth anniversary of the Expo. This stamp, as a "national calling card," captures the decade-long journey of deepening connectivity and mutual cooperation between China and the 10 ASEAN nations. It has become an important cultural artifact documenting the bilateral economic, trade, and cultural exchanges of that period.
