China Post is scheduled to issue a set of 3 commemorative stamps titled "The 70th Anniversary of the Founding of China's Nuclear Industry" on January 15, 2025. The stamps are themed "Forging Nuclear Weapons for National Defense", "Pioneering Nuclear Energy Development" and "Nuclear Technology Benefiting People's Livelihood", with a total face value of 3.50 yuan and a planned circulation of 6.1 million sets.

On January 15, 1955, the Party Central Committee made the strategic decision to develop China's atomic energy industry, marking the dawn of China's nuclear industry. From the "foundational stone of the industry" to the extraordinary achievements of developing "two bombs and one submarine", from being hailed as "the glory of the nation" to becoming a "national calling card", the nuclear industry has made outstanding contributions to consolidating national security and boosting national morale. Over the past 70 years, China's nuclear industry has fully served national strategies, vigorously promoted independent scientific and technological innovation, accelerated integration into the new development paradigm, continuously expanded high-level international cooperation, and better balanced development and security. Its vitality and momentum for development have been constantly strengthened and released.

The stamp designs integrate graphic design with hand-drawing, depicting the great journey and brilliant achievements of China's nuclear industry from scratch and from small to large. The first stamp "Forging Nuclear Weapons for National Defense" features design elements of atomic bombs, hydrogen bombs and nuclear submarines. The second stamp "Pioneering Nuclear Energy Development" takes the Qinshan Nuclear Power Base as the background, with the foreground reflecting the "three-step" strategy for nuclear energy development, including the "Hualong One" nuclear power technology, China Experimental Fast Reactor and the new-generation artificial sun "HL-2M Tokamak". The third stamp "Nuclear Technology Benefiting People's Livelihood" showcases medical equipment such as domestically produced gamma knives, radioactive drug vials, accelerators, as well as security inspection technologies and radiation breeding, demonstrating the applications of nuclear energy in medical care, security, agriculture and other fields. Printed using high-screen gravure technology, the stamps benefit from the process's high saturation and vivid colors, resulting in distinct subjects and clear layers. To better present the core content, gradient effects are emphasized during printing while color overprinting is minimized, creating a harmonious and unified visual effect that enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the stamps.

This set of stamps is designed by Guo Zhiyi, edited by Li Jiayue, and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing Co., Ltd. using gravure technology.
