China Post is scheduled to issue a set of 1 commemorative stamp themed "The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of Sun Yat-sen University" on November 12, 2024. The stamp is titled The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of Sun Yat-sen University with a face value of 1.20 yuan. The planned issuance quantity is 6.15 million sets.

Founded in 1924 by Mr. Sun Yat-sen himself and co-founded with the participation of early leaders of the Communist Party of China, Sun Yat-sen University is one of the important birthplaces for the dissemination of Marxism in China. It boasts a fine revolutionary tradition, a spirit of patriotism and striving, and a pursuit of excellence. Initially named National Guangdong University, it was officially renamed National Sun Yat-sen University in 1926. During the national university department adjustment in 1952, disciplines such as engineering, agriculture, medicine, and teacher education were transferred out, while the university retained its liberal arts and science disciplines. In 2001, Sun Yat-sen University merged with Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences, laying a solid foundation for its development towards a higher level. In 2017, the university was selected into the first batch of "Double First-Class" construction universities; in 2022, it was re-selected into the new round of "Double First-Class" construction universities list.

Adopting colored pencil hand-drawing techniques and a symmetric composition centered on the vertical axis, the stamp takes "Huai Shi Tang" (Huai Shi Hall), the iconic building of Sun Yat-sen University, as the main subject, and depicts the iconic big banyan trees along the campus roads. With lush green as the dominant color, the design is grand and elegant, embodying vibrant vitality and showing the profound historical and cultural heritage of Sun Yat-sen University in nurturing talents over a century. The overall color matching of the stamp is pure, with distinct layers between the main building and the big trees. Gold ink is cleverly applied to the background sky, as well as the text and logos on the stamp, and the university motto shines brightly under ultraviolet light.

This set of stamps is designed by Zhang Qiang, with Gan Zhige as the responsible editor, and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing Co., Ltd. using photogravure technology.
