The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) traces its origin to the National Beijing School of Fine Arts founded in 1918, making it the first national institution of fine arts education in Chinese history. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the National Beiping School of Arts, developed from the National Beijing School of Fine Arts, merged with the Department of Fine Arts under the Third Division of North China University, which evolved from the Department of Fine Arts of Yan'an Luxun Academy of Arts. The merged institution was named the Central Academy of Fine Arts, with its name inscribed personally by Chairman Mao Zedong.

Adhering to the school motto of "Strive for Subtlety and Reach for Breadth", CAFA has gathered and successively cultivated a group of renowned artists and art theorists nationwide, forming an outstanding team engaged in artistic creation and art history research in New China. It has been leading the development of China's fine arts and fine arts education, and holds an important position among the world's top - tier art academies. The commemorative stamp titled "The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Central Academy of Fine Arts" was issued by China Post on April 1, 2018. The set contains one stamp with a face value of 1.20 yuan. Adopting the technology of combination of offset and intaglio printing and metallic fluorescent engraved ink, the stamp's design integrates the buildings of CAFA from different historical periods and the logo of the 100th anniversary celebration, presenting a unique visual effect under ultraviolet light. With line drawing techniques to interpret the spiritual essence of "forging ahead through hardships and passing on the torch from generation to generation", it is the only commemorative stamp among China Post's university series that adopts the combination of offset and intaglio printing process and is dedicated to a university not at the deputy ministerial level.

The stamp is designed with line drawing techniques, combining the building complex of CAFA, its buildings from various historical stages and the 100th anniversary logo, which embodies the historical inheritance and century - long glory of CAFA. In the printing process, the combination of offset and intaglio printing is adopted together with metallic fluorescent engraved ink. Under ultraviolet light, the golden - colored building complex of CAFA emits a bright red glow. The words "Central Academy of Fine Arts" and "100" are printed with colorless yellow fluorescent printing technology, radiating bright yellow light under ultraviolet light.
