Background

¡°Outlaws of the Marsh¡±, written by Shi Naian and Luo Guanzhong at the turnover of Yuan dynasty and Ming dynasty, is very famous in China as a literary masterpiece of ancient China. It is based on the story of peasant uprising led by Song Jiang in the North Song period and vividly describes how the uprising happened, developed and failed. The writers portrayed every character according to their status and experience against historical background. Therefore, it makes outstanding contributions to art.
