The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of China

At the top of the design sits the solemn Party emblem. Light and shadow cast from the emblem form the outline of modern high-rises shaped as the Arabic numeral “14”, a clever reference to the 14th Congress. It symbolises the upward and vigorous growth of the reform and development cause. The 14th National Congress of the CPC convened in Beijing in October 1992. Guided by Deng Xiaoping’s theory of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, it pushed reform and opening-up into a new phase.

Artistic Features

The stamp adopts a simple and modern decorative style, with a neat, stable composition and solemn, dignified colour palette. It integrates the Party emblem, the numeral marking the Congress session and imagery of modern architecture into one concise design with a strong contemporary flavour. It follows the formal and solemn design tradition of previous commemorative stamps for CPC National Congresses.
