Stamp Design and Historical Background

International Year of Peace

The main subject of the design is a blue dove of peace holding an olive branch in its beak, with many small figures of different colors gathered on the dove's body, representing people of different skin colors and ethnic groups around the world. On the left side of the design is the emblem of the International Year of Peace, in which olive branches surround and support a pair of hands holding up a dove of peace, implying that all humanity joins hands to safeguard peace.

Artistic Design Features

The design integrates the art of folk paper-cutting and paper pasting with a modern decorative style. The forms are naive and vivid, and the colors are bright and lively. The composition is concise and direct, and the image of the dove of peace is known to every household. It expresses the theme of peace in an accessible and childlike way, with a distinctive national character.
