China Post scheduled the issuance of a set of 5 commemorative stamps themed "Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games – Ice Sports" on November 7, 2020. The five stamps are respectively titled "Short Track Speed Skating", "Figure Skating", "Speed Skating", "Curling", and "Ice Hockey", with a total face value of 6 yuan. The planned circulation is 8.7 million sets for Sheetlet 1 and 2 million sets (1 million sheets) for Sheetlet 2.

On July 31, 2015, Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), officially announced at the 128th IOC Session that Beijing had won the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games! This marks Beijing’s second association with the Olympics after the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, making it the first city in the world to host both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games! The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games comprises 7 sports and 15 disciplines, among which the ice sports include 5 disciplines: Short Track Speed Skating, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Curling, and Ice Hockey.

Short Track Speed Skating, originated in Canada in the 19th century, is also known as short-track speed skating. It is an ice racing sport that combines speed, technique, and tactics, and was officially included as an Olympic event at the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Figure Skating originated in the United Kingdom in the 18th century and was listed as an event at the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924. It is a competitive sport that integrates skating with music and dance art. Featuring complex and varied technical moves and diverse artistic expressions, it is one of the most popular events among audiences.

Speed Skating originated in Northern Europe, with the earliest recorded skating activities dating back 800 years. As the oldest and most widely practiced form of skating, it was included as an event at the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924.

Curling originated in Scotland in the 16th century. It is a team-based throwing sport played on ice, often hailed as "chess on ice". Curling was officially recognized as an Olympic event at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games.

Ice Hockey, also known as ice hockey, originated in Canada. It was included as an event at the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924. Combining dynamic skating skills with agile ice hockey techniques, it is one of the highly competitive team ice sports played on ice.

This set of stamps was designed by Zhang Qiang, with border decorations co-designed by Zhang Qiang and Chen Yijun. Adopting a computer hand-painted style, the stamps depict the athletes’ valiant bearing and wonderful moments on ice. The overall design features bright and vivid colors, concise and smooth lines, and dynamic athlete silhouettes full of tension, embodying the beauty of agility, skill, speed, and strength of each sport. The background of the stamps is paired with the core graphics of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, and the 5 stamps are closely connected with a natural and smooth visual effect, creating a warm atmosphere of welcoming the grand Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House using the photogravure technique, the stamps feature crystal-clear snowflakes printed with special photosensitive ink on the background. The "BEIJING2022" text on the border of the full sheet adopts a hollow-out technique, integrating artistry, anti-counterfeiting functions, and enhancing the interactivity of the stamps. A QR code is printed on the border of each full sheet; by scanning it with a mobile phone, viewers can directly watch short videos introducing the five ice sports.
