China Post plans to issue a set of 6 commemorative stamps and 1 souvenir sheet themed "The 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army" on August 1, 2017. The stamps feature the following themes respectively: the Army, Navy, Air Force, Rocket Force, Strategic Support Force, and Armed Police Force, while the souvenir sheet is themed "Obeying the Party's Command". The total face value of the complete set of stamps is 13.20 yuan.

August 1, 2017 marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). Over the past 90 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the people's army has always upheld its nature, purpose and fundamental character, fully fulfilled its core functions and missions, and made indelible historical achievements. For 90 years, the people's army has stood firmly alongside the people of all ethnic groups across the country, served the people wholeheartedly, strived unremittingly for national rejuvenation, people's liberation and national prosperity, made significant contributions to safeguarding world peace and promoting the cause of human progress, and advanced from one victory to another. Celebrating the 90th anniversary of the army's founding and showcasing the heroic bearing of the people's army aims to inspire the whole Party, the entire army and the people of all ethnic groups to carry forward the glorious traditions, pass on the red gene, and strive for the realization of the Chinese Dream and the dream of building a strong military.

This set of stamps highlights the valiant and heroic bearing of the Chinese People's Liberation Army as well as the hardware strength of China's military equipment. With distinct themes and a grand momentum, the designs exude a strong sense of dynamism and dignity. On the souvenir sheet, the military flag flutters in the wind, and soldiers of all services display their dashing spirits. The background is set off by cutting-edge equipment of each service, depicting a scene of joint operations by PLA soldiers. The stamps were designed by Li Xiang, Li Chen, Cang Tingting, Liu Wei and Shen Lu, and printed by Beijing Stamp Factory using the photogravure printing technique.
