On January 10, 2016, China Post issued a set of Special Stamps themed "New Year Greetings", containing one stamp in the set.

As the Spring Festival arrives, so do the blessings. Another year has passed, and another year of hopes has come. Paying New Year calls is a traditional cultural custom and etiquette activity for the Chinese people to celebrate the Spring Festival. During the Lunar New Year, beaming smiles, cheerful greetings of "Happy New Year to you!" and warm wishes of "Happy New Year and all the best!" fill the festival with a strong festive joy and warmth, embodying the unique human touch of the Chinese nation.

This stamp set follows the style of the 2015 New Year Greetings stamps, with a distinctive festive vibe. On the stamp, Huanhuan wears a monkey-shaped hat, holds a bamboo pole high with both hands, from which hang bright red firecrackers that are crackling and burning. The firework sparks are like blooming spring flowers, bright and colorful. Xixi covers his ears with both hands, wearing a beaming and joyful smile. On both sides of the image are auspicious couplets: "The crackling sound of firecrackers bids farewell to the old year; festive peachwood charms at every household welcome the new spring", which enhances the joyful and harmonious atmosphere of the New Year.
