Commemorative Stamps: The 50th Anniversary of the Release of Mao Zedong’s Inscription "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng"
Issued by China Post on March 5, 2013, this set of commemorative stamps contains four pieces in total. The main designs of the stamps are themed respectively "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng", "Diligent Study and Delving", "Dedication to Posts and Professions", and "Ready to Help Others". With a circulation of 13.4999 million sets, the stamps adopt offset-engraved combined printing technology, supported by multiple anti-counterfeiting measures including anti-counterfeit paper, anti-counterfeit ink, special-shaped perforations and fluorescent coding.

Lei Feng, originally named Lei Zhengxing, was born in December 1940. On August 15, 1962, he died while performing official duties at the young age of 22. On March 5, 1963, major central newspapers simultaneously published Mao Zedong’s inscription "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng". Over the past decades, under the cordial care and vigorous advocacy of central leading figures, activities to learn from Lei Feng have flourished across the country and endured through the years. On February 9, 2012, the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee issued the Opinions on Further Carrying Out Activities to Learn from Lei Feng, requiring the whole society to launch such activities and institutionalize them as regular practices.

The report to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stated that "we will deepen public cultural and ethical initiatives, extensively develop volunteer services, and make activities to learn from Lei Feng a regular practice". Under the new historical conditions, the Central Committee calls on the whole nation to continue learning from and promoting Lei Feng’s noble spirit and fine moral character: loyalty to the Party and the motherland, readiness to assist others, dedication to work, forging ahead with determination, and perseverance in hard work. We should translate the spirit of Lei Feng into a powerful force for enriching people’s inner world and elevating moral standards, and into concrete actions to advance sound scientific development and social harmony.

Lei Feng stands as an immortal monument and an eternal role model. For nearly half a century, Comrade Lei Feng’s unwavering faith in the Party, the motherland and the people, as well as his lofty spirit of dedication, professionalism, innovation and hard work, has inspired generations of cadres and the general public to forge ahead courageously. Today, the spirit of Lei Feng has been endowed with new connotations for the times, shining ever more brilliantly across the land of China.
