Background info
Wang Zhaojun of the Western Han Dynasty£¨206BC-AD25£©was selected to the palace during the reign of Yuandi. Later, the chief of the Xiongnu would like to marry a daughter of the Han imperial family to cement the relations, and Wang Zhaojun volunteered to marry the chief, which played a positive role in strengthening the peaceful Han-Xiongnu relations and became a beautiful folktale spreading far and wide.
