Background info
1990 is the year of horse. Horses have been in close relations with mankind. It is verified that the domestication of horse is one of the marks of social productivity development, first occurred in the Patriarchal Period. Having a special affection to horse, the Chinese people regard them not only as an advantageous means of production and transportation, but also a symbol of spirit, emotion and talent. Such affection developed into an extensive and profound horse culture, which has infiltrated inton Chinese characters, fine arts, music and so on. The phrase "victory upon arrival by horse" is used even today as good wish to one's career and praise for success, and "spirit of dragon and horse" is praise for one's great vigor.
