Stamp Design and Historical Background

International Youth Year 1985

In the upper left corner is the emblem of International Youth Year, in which olive branches surround figures of young people of different skin colors, symbolizing peace and the unity of youth of all ethnic groups. In the main scene, three young people ride a great auspicious bird shaped like a dove of peace, soaring through the sky. One holds a golden key, implying opening the door of science; one sows seeds, representing sowing hope; and one unfurls a colored ribbon, symbolizing a colorful life. The design blends romantic imagination, interpreting the ideals of youth—exploration, creation, and longing for peace.

Artistic Design Features

The design adopts a decorative, fairy-tale romantic painting style, with lively and flowing lines and bright, vivid colors. The forms are exaggerated and freehand, unconstrained by heavy realism, and full of youthful vitality. The pure white background is clean and open, setting off the artistic conception of free soaring. It is a fresh-styled international-themed stamp with romantic meaning among JT stamps.
