China Post is scheduled to issue a set of 3 special stamps themed "Poyang Lake" on July 20, 2019. The stamps bear the following design titles: Melodious Sounds of Shizhong Mountain, Charm of Xieshan Island, and Wonders of the Wetland. The total face value of the complete stamp set is 3.20 yuan.

Poyang Lake, located in the northern part of Jiangxi Province and south of the Yangtze River, is China’s largest freshwater lake. It is home to a national wetland park and boasts abundant biological resources, serving as a crucial wintering habitat, migration route, and stopover site for a large number of rare migratory birds. From October to March of the following year, the number of migratory birds flying here for winter can reach over one million, creating a spectacular scene described by the line "When they fly, they block the clouds and the sun; when they land, the grass by the lake disappears from sight". Poyang Lake features beautiful scenery and profound historical and cultural heritage, with famous attractions such as Shizhong Mountain and Xieshan Island. As the "waist" of the Yangtze River and a key pole in the development of the central region, the achievements in ecological civilization construction of the Poyang Lake Basin are also an important part of the national strategy for the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

This set of stamps adopts traditional Chinese painting techniques to showcase the long-lasting charm of Poyang Lake’s landscape.

Melodious Sounds of Shizhong Mountain presents the landscape of Shizhong Mountain at the confluence of Poyang Lake and the Yangtze River. Shizhong Mountain became world-famous due to Notes on Shizhong Mountain, a prose written by Su Shi of the Northern Song Dynasty.

Charm of Xieshan Island depicts Xieshan Island (also known as Dagushan Island) — one of the many islands on Poyang Lake, which has a long history of humanistic landscapes.

Wonders of the Wetland shows the natural landscape of Poyang Lake National Wetland Park and its most important rare migratory birds, including oriental storks, swans, and white cranes.

The border of one of the stamp formats displays a partial view of a long scroll painting of Poyang Lake’s landscape. When the borders of the three stamp formats are connected together, they form a panoramic picture of Poyang Lake’s scenery. The set also uses special-shaped color marks, presenting silhouette images of six bird species that inhabit Poyang Lake: white cranes, demoiselle cranes, wild geese, grey herons, swans, and little egrets.

This set of stamps is designed by Yang Wenqing and printed by Beijing Stamp Factory using the photogravure process.
