China Post is scheduled to issue a set of 2 commemorative stamps themed "The 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference" on September 21, 2019. The two stamps are entitled The 70th Anniversary of the CPPCC and The New Look of the Great Hall of the National Committee of the CPPCC respectively, with a total face value of 2.40 yuan for the complete set.

The year 2019 marked the 70th anniversary of both the founding of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Rooted in China's historical and cultural heritage, the CPPCC emerged from the great revolutionary struggles of the Chinese people in the modern era and has evolved through the glorious practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Boasting distinct Chinese features, it serves as a crucial force for achieving national prosperity, national rejuvenation and people's happiness. Over the past 70 years, the CPPCC has actively engaged in the magnificent endeavors of founding New China, constructing New China, exploring the path of reform and realizing the Chinese Dream. It has traversed a glorious journey and made indelible historical contributions, and is bound to create an even more brilliant future.

The first stamp integrates design elements including the CPPCC emblem, the number "70" and Huairen Hall in Zhongnanhai. The number "70" commemorates the 70-year history of the CPPCC. The "0" in "70" expands outward into four concentric circles centered on the CPPCC emblem, symbolizing the broadest patriotic united front. This united front consists of all socialist workers, builders of the socialist cause, patriots who support socialism, and patriots who advocate national reunification and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It also implies that the CPPCC has channeled diverse appeals into a rational and procedural framework in its work. The background of the stamp features Huairen Hall in Zhongnanhai, the venue where the First Plenary Session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference was held in 1949. By reviewing the CPPCC's history, the entire design embodies the commitment to staying true to its original aspiration and keeping its mission firmly in mind, while eulogizing the remarkable 70-year development course of the CPPCC.

The second stamp presents the Great Hall of the National Committee of the CPPCC, an iconic structure of the CPPCC. The historical evolution of the CPPCC from holding meetings in Huairen Hall to having its own great hall symbolizes the glorious chapter written over 70 years by the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The designers adopted artistic techniques combining classical engraving and color generalization. In terms of both content and style, the design echoes that of the first stamp, highlighting the grand, solemn, elegant and graceful features of the Great Hall of the National Committee of the CPPCC.

This set of stamps was designed by Wang Hongwei and Feng Yunqian, and printed by Beijing Stamp Factory using the photogravure process.
