The 22nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting was held in Beijing from November 10 to 11, 2014, under the theme "Building an Asia-Pacific Partnership for the Future."

The stamp design prominently features the official emblem of the 2014 APEC meeting, which depicts a colorful globe incorporating the shape of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, created from 21 colored lines. The emblem symbolizes the partnership and integrated development of the 21 member economies. The stamp adopts a large format measuring 60×30 mm, giving the overall design the feel of a landscape handscroll. On the left side of the design is the Great Wall, which not only indicates the meeting location but also symbolizes China's important role in the APEC framework. On the right side are Mount Tai and a rising sun, representing "the sun rises in the east, bringing prosperity and vitality," conveying the idea that APEC economies are shouldering important responsibilities and moving forward with vibrant cooperation. The inclusion of Mount Tai also suggests that the responsibilities of APEC are "as weighty as Mount Tai" (a traditional Chinese expression meaning of great importance).
