Background
China Post will issue a commemorative stamp on October 16, 2025, to mark the 120th anniversary of China Agricultural University (CAU). The stamp, titled "120th Anniversary of China Agricultural University," has a face value of 1.20 yuan and a planned circulation of 4.5 million sets.As the birthplace of modern agricultural higher education in China, CAU traces its origins to the College of Agriculture, one of the eight divisions of the Metropolitan University (Jingshi Daxuetang) established in 1905. For over a century, the university has remained committed to its mission of "Working for the Improvement of People's Livelihood and Cultivating Global Talents."
Today, CAU upholds its traditions of diligence, pragmatism, patriotism, and service to society while maintaining strengths in agricultural sciences and expanding into emerging disciplines. It strives to become a world-class university with distinct agricultural characteristics and Chinese features, closely aligned with global advancements and technological progress.
The stamp design combines engraving techniques with light wash painting, featuring the historic gate of the "College of Agriculture" as the central motif, complemented by modern campus scenery. The contrast between warm and cool colors enhances spatial depth and visual hierarchy, creating a clean and vibrant composition. Under ultraviolet light, the university's motto — "Working for the Improvement of People's Livelihood and Cultivating Global Talents" — becomes clearly visible.
The stamp was designed by Xu Zhe, edited by Li Jinwei, and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing Co., Ltd. using a combination of offset and intaglio printing techniques.
