China Post is scheduled to issue a set of 5 special stamps themed "Animation – The Adventures of Afanti" on June 1, 2024. The stamp designs are entitled Selling Shade, The Rabbit Delivers a Letter, The Miracle Doctor, The Magic Donkey, and Growing Gold. The total face value of the set is 5.20 yuan, with a planned circulation of 5.8 million sets.

Produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio, The Adventures of Afanti is a puppet animation centered on the legendary figure Afanti, with the main plot revolving around his witty confrontations with evildoers. Composed of multiple short stories, the animation features distinct themes and vivid characterizations. In particular, Afanti’s image – intelligent, humorous, and eloquent – is brought to life, winning the hearts of audiences of all ages. The animation has accompanied the growth of several generations of children, teaching them to flexibly use wisdom to solve problems. Meanwhile, it embodies the working people’s spiritual qualities of diligence, courage, optimism, and positivity.

The stamp designs place different story scenes within stage-like structural outlines, highlighting narrative and playfulness. Printed using the combined offset and engraving process, the stamps adopt six-color offset printing and engraved gold ink. The golden engraved lines with sparkles depict the curtains, making the golden drapes shimmer brightly under light and adding a touch of grandeur and solemnity to the stamps. Light blue varnish is applied to the background patterns and border decorations to enhance luster. The overall images are rich in color and distinct in layers, as if immersing viewers in the wonderful world of the animated stories. Under ultraviolet light, the fluorescent effects offer an extra element of delight.

This set of stamps was designed by Yuan Yishan, edited by Liu Jian, and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing Co., Ltd. using the combined offset and engraving printing process.
